Your observations are spot on — but I’m gonna quibble with one point — not b/c you’re wrong, but if you’re writing on medium to make money than the advice to write in many topics is a smart one.

The more curations you get, the more pubs you’re in the better chances you have at stabilizing your income from this platform. Trends change. The algorithms change and — contrary to what people want to believe — quantity beats out quality every time when it comes to being able to make a decent side income from these crowd-sourced platforms.

Medium’s recent moves have exacerbated this reality. When curation barely registers a bump in views or engagement you're left no choice but to churn out more content and see what sticks.
