Once again you’re making a lot of assumptions based on what you think I’m doing and not what I’m actually doing.

So for clarity:

  1. I had 346 followers b/c back in the day if you synched your twitter account anyone who followed you on twitter who also was on Medium they would add them to your followers. They don’t do that anymore.
  2. I don’t follow people willy nilly. I seek out people who have clapped on work similar to mine. They’ve already shown an interest in the type of content I write.
  3. I do have time to comment and clap for everyone I follow. I go through my list of follows each day and comment and clap on their content. I set a number, read, comment, clap, repeat. Engaging with the community is just as important as consistently creating content. I do both.
  4. My read ratio is just fine. Thanks. it hovers in the 60 to 80+ percent range. So people regularly engage with my content.

My goal here is to make money. I’m not interested in making that any more complicated than it needs to be — Medium does enough of that. You may not like my tactics — that’s fine — but they work.

I don’t do vanity metrics. I’m only concerned with results. And the results back up my decision to follow the way I do. Now I’m not saying it’s the only way to do things — but at least if you’re going to criticize the method make sure you understand the whys behind it and the results.

Not liking something doesn’t mean it’s ineffective. And in this case, it means the exact opposite.
